Our Story

Bloom & Grow is not just a preschool, it is our home, our family, and a beautiful community of parents and children that continues to grow year after year. We are a locally owned family business that is fueled on my love and passion for creating high quality early learning spaces for children.
I have a Masters Degree in Child Development and 20 years of experience working in the profession of early learning. My background in early learning spans private preschools, state funded programs, and school district classrooms. Within the district, I stepped into a leadership role as a resource teacher and early education specialist, supporting classrooms and mentoring teachers to strengthen their practice. I later worked at Sacramento County Office of Education, where I coached educators, led professional learning, and partnered with programs across our county to improve the quality of early childhood experiences for children and families. I believed deeply in this work long before I became a parent.

When I became a mom to our oldest son, Asher, everything I believed professionally became personal. Around his first birthday, as I was balancing work and motherhood, we began exploring preschool options. We chose a wonderful, well respected family child care home, but it was not the right fit for him. He needed to be outside, he needed to move freely, and he needed space for his imagination and his big feelings. That experience shifted something in me. I wanted to build the environment I wished existed for my own child. The idea for Bloom & Grow was born, and I took a leap of faith to make that dream a reality. It has been incredible to watch not only our own family thrive here, but also the many children and parents who have become part of this community.

As our family grew, so did the program. Our middle son, Hartlan, was born into Bloom & Grow and spent his earliest years here, outdoors as a baby and toddler, surrounded by mixed age peers. Watching him confirmed what I already knew, that outdoor learning is powerful for young children. It supports confidence, connection, regulation, and resilience from the very beginning.

Our youngest son, Rowan, was also born into Bloom & Grow, he shaped our story in a profound way. Rowan had an ultra rare, progressive and fatal genetic condition, which ultimately lead to his death in July of 2024 at two and a half years old. We are grateful he had a beautiful death and was surrounded by those who loved him most. He was silly, had the best laugh, loved to swing high and go fast, loved the water and music and truly is the greatest teacher of my life. His life deepened my commitment to inclusion, compassion, and creating spaces where every child can participate meaningfully. He used a wheelchair and adaptive equipment to help him access the environment and play alongside his friends. He was fully a part of our days at Bloom & Grow and continues to be a light in our community. His legacy continues to shape the way I hold space for every child and every family in such a deeply loving and meaningful way.
My husband, Lange, has also been an essential part of bringing Bloom & Grow to life. While you may not see him in the daily rhythm of the program, he is the steady support behind so much of what exists here. As a construction management supervisor for Sacramento County, he brings both professional expertise and craftsmanship to our space. He built the deck off the classroom, finished the interior, and has created many of the structures and materials that fill our outdoor environment. I tend to dream big, and he quietly figures out how to build it. His belief in this work and his skills have made so much of this dream possible, and I am deeply grateful for him.
Together, our boys, my experience as an educator, Lange’s steady support and craftsmanship, and this unique and special community we have created shape the heart of Bloom & Grow.
Bloom & Grow was created for children and their need for movement, nature, flexibility, and understanding. We welcome big feelings, strong personalities, and neurodivergent learning styles. We believe the individuality of each child is a strength, not something to manage or minimize. Our role as educators is to guide children with respect, patience, and trust in their natural development and learning style.
We are an intentionally small, relationship based community where families are known and children are deeply understood.
