Serving toddlers through kindergarten age children in an intentionally designed , thoughtfully sized learning community
THE BLOOM & GROW PROGRAM
Bloom & Grow Outdoor Early Learning offers an intentionally designed early learning program rooted in play, outdoor exploration, and meaningful social emotional development. Our program supports children from toddlerhood through kindergarten age in developing the skills, confidence, and emotional foundations they need to thrive in group learning environments and beyond.

Learning at Bloom & Grow is active, relational, and grounded in how young children learn best. The environment, daily rhythms, and thoughtfully sized enrollment are designed to support depth of learning rather than rushed outcomes.

PLAY BASED, OUTDOOR LEARNING
Play is the foundation of learning at Bloom & Grow. Through play, children explore ideas, practice social skills, build language, and develop problem solving abilities in authentic and meaningful ways.

Our outdoor learning environment provides extended time for movement, exploration, creativity, and discovery. Open ended materials invite imagination, collaboration, and inquiry, while the natural setting supports physical development, emotional regulation, and engagement.

Outdoor learning is not an add on to our program. It is central to how children experience their day.

SOCIAL EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Social emotional learning is woven into every part of the Bloom & Grow day. It is not taught through isolated lessons or worksheets, but through real experiences, relationships, and responsive guidance.

Children are supported in developing:
-
emotional awareness and expression
-
empathy and perspective taking
-
problem solving and conflict resolution skills
-
self regulation and coping strategies
-
confidence and independence within a group setting

Educators provide consistent guidance, model respectful communication, and support children through moments of challenge and growth. These experiences form the foundation for learning, relationships, and long term success in school and life.

RESPONSIBILITY, INDEPENDENCE, AND SCHOOL READINESS
At Bloom & Grow, responsibility and independence are treated as foundational skills for success in group learning environments and later schooling. These skills are intentionally supported throughout the day and embedded into the daily life of the program.

Our community is guided by three shared values:
We are safe. We are kind. We are responsible.

These values shape how children move through their day and interact with one another, the environment, and the adults around them. Learning to function within shared space, shared routines, and shared responsibility is complex developmental work that requires time, consistency, and skilled adult support.

Children participate fully in the life of the program by taking on meaningful roles and responsibilities. They help prepare shared spaces, care for materials, support daily routines, and contribute to the rhythm of the day. Through roles such as bell ringer or teacher helper, children experience what it means to be relied upon and to contribute to a community.

Alongside these responsibilities, children develop independence within a social setting. They learn to recognize and communicate their needs, manage personal care routines, navigate group expectations, and participate in shared meals and activities. These skills are practiced not in isolation, but within a dynamic group context that requires attention to others, emotional regulation, and flexibility.

This work is supported by experienced educators who understand how independence, self regulation, and responsibility develop over time. Skills emerge through repetition, guidance, and real practice within a predictable, supportive environment.

By the time children transition to transitional kindergarten or kindergarten, they are prepared for the realities of school life. Their readiness comes not from early academics, but from having mastered the social, emotional, and practical demands of being a learner in a classroom community.

LEARNING FROM THE WORLD AROUND US
At Bloom & Grow, the natural world is an integral part of the curriculum. Children’s curiosity about what they notice and experience in their environment helps guide what we explore together each day.

Seasonal changes, weather, plant growth, and the presence of living creatures naturally shape learning opportunities. Children observe worms emerging after the rain, plant seeds, care for the garden, and watch growth unfold over time. These experiences invite questions, reflection, and meaningful conversation.

Through daily interaction with the environment, children practice empathy, responsibility, and care for living things. They learn to move thoughtfully, treat even the smallest creatures with kindness, and take responsibility for the spaces they share. Learning unfolds organically through observation, exploration, and guided reflection.

NUTRITION AND MEALTIMES
Meals and snacks at Bloom & Grow are an important part of the learning experience. Children are offered mostly organic, whole foods without added sugars. When sweeteners are used, pure maple syrup or honey is chosen.

Mealtimes are approached as opportunities for learning, connection, and relationship building. Children sit together with educators, share conversation, and practice independence in a calm and supportive setting.

Children also participate in meal preparation, building skills such as measuring, pouring, and using child safe tools. These experiences support confidence, fine motor development, and a positive relationship with food.

Bloom & Grow follows a responsive feeding approach. Adults decide what foods are offered, and children decide what and how much to eat. This approach supports body awareness, autonomy, and healthy eating habits over time.

THOUGHTFUL CARE AND ENVIRONMENTAL PRACTICES
The environment at Bloom & Grow is cared for with the same intention as the learning experience. Daily practices are designed to support children’s health, comfort, and well being while reducing environmental impact.

Our program prioritizes:
-
eco friendly cleaning products
-
stainless steel dishes and utensils rather than disposable plastics
-
cloth towels and washcloths for daily use
-
thoughtful material choices that support sustainability

These practices help create a calm, respectful environment where children learn to care for themselves, their community, and the world around them through daily experience rather than instruction.

INCLUSION AND BELONGING
Bloom & Grow is committed to creating a learning community where all children and families feel welcomed, valued, and respected. Every child has the right to equitable learning opportunities and full participation in the life of the program.

Our approach includes:
-
strengths based, responsive teaching
-
thoughtful adaptation of the environment
-
respect for each child’s unique abilities and needs
-
partnership with families
-
culturally responsive practices

Inclusion is embedded into the daily life of the program through relationships, environment design, and intentional teaching practices.

SUPPORTING TRANSITIONS AND READINESS
Bloom & Grow supports children through important developmental transitions, including the transition to transitional kindergarten and kindergarten.

Rather than focusing on early academics, the program emphasizes emotional readiness, confidence within group settings, communication, problem solving, independence, and comfort with routines and expectations.

These foundational skills support children in entering their next learning environment with confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of self.

QUALITY AND PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS
Bloom & Grow is proudly 5 Star Rated by the Sacramento County Office of Education, reflecting a long standing commitment to high quality early learning, professional practice, and continuous improvement.

This recognition affirms the intentional design of the program, the strength of educator child interactions, and adherence to best practices in early childhood education.
